What excuses have you heard from a carrier why they backed out of the load?

As a person who does dispatch trucks I’ve had to legitimately tell a broker I had to fall off because: my driver got so sick and dehydrated while driving she had to be rushed to the ER (he didn’t believe me and refuses to use us now!), driver’s mother was unexpectedly put on life support, driver’s father committed suicide and had to immediately leave to be with his family, driver fell on ice and twisted her leg, driver had a heart attack while taking a shower and was rushed into emergency surgery, driver had a heart attack and died in the truck, driver got caught with a prostitute and arrested. I’ve been doing this for years but these are the main ones I remember.

Usually the broker believes us when we tell them - it’s almost like brokers don’t realize drivers are real people too who can sometimes have health or family emergencies.

When I broker the main ones I’ve gotten were just truck problems or family emergencies.
