What hobby taught you unexpected life skills? How?

Running and fitness. If applied well you have health and nutrition right there. Should help with life.

Endurance running, specifically, taught me a lot in terms of going/doing what I didn't think I could ever do. Physical limitations aside, running is a mental game. the human body is designed to run. I learned discipline, rewarded with progress, understand regression. Efficientcy ties into diet and physical awareness as I age. I definitely struggle to get myself to go, but I've never come back having regretted going for a run.

The health benefits are obvious, but the inadvertent life skill for me is my mental attitude towards myself and my life.
