What was it like watching the 2001 Mariners?

Going into the season there was a lot of questions: Can Ichiro produce in the MLB? Can Bret Boone bounce back? Can Freddy Garcia take the next step to being the ace we need? All of this happened after we just lost ARod, Griffey, and Randy Johnson within 2 seasons.

The season itself was magical. The team clicked like I had never seen before or since. Clutch hitting, dominate pitching, great defense. We also had Cameron and Ichiro roaming the outfield, which as we know stops a LOT of fly balls.

On top of that we had the All Star game being hosted in out brand new stadium. All eyes were on us. It was a season I will never forget.

Every week I would think "there is no way they can keep this up" but they did.... until 9/11. Once that happen they were still winning but it wasn't the same. All eyes were on New York. By the playoffs the Mariners were so worn out. We got dominated by the Yankees in the ALCS and everyone not from Seattle wanted the Yankee's to win it all.

It was beautiful. I loved that season so much. It's the reason why I'm still a fan today, hoping for another run that was like it.
