I hate telling this story because I'm not superstitious at all and I think it's just apophenia but it was still creepy. I think it was just one of those weird things where two people can have a collective memory - broken or otherwise. My partner and I moved into this house our first year of marriage that was really old. It has furnace problems, and we were finding ourselves going in and out of the attic a lot the first couple months we were living there. We noticed pretty early on that there was a door in the attic that was locked. We asked the landlord and he told us it was sealed off stairwell (house used to be one and a half stories but now was only one) and to not worry about it.

We never really worried about it, but that winter our furnace crapped out and we decided to call the electrician. Dude pulls the attic door down from the ceiling and a child's breathing tube came flying out of the attic and onto the ground. Pink with purple butterflies. Seems unrelated and probably is - but still creepy.

Electrician goes up into the attic and yells back at me. I come to the foot of the stairs and he tells me that there is a door leading to no where and it's open. Keep in mind - no one had been in the attic for months and the door was absolutely locked last time we had been up there. We had tried to break the lock, that's how locked it was. Being pretty relaxed in my superstition gauge, I told him to close the door and not worry about it. Dude definitely seemed worried about all of it though.

Some time later, my partner goes back up there and she tells me there is no door. We go back up there, and the door was completely missing. It was sealed off drywall where a door used to be. We told the landlord and he said they sealed it off before we moved in. Again, I can't explain this shit, so I just say I don't know and move on.
