What is the most insane order or event that happened in your career?

Lodgings for AT turned out to be Vietnam-era bunks, with air conditioners pumping out air that was screwing with my asthma. Got a doctor's note stating the facts and directing leadership to obtain alternate lodging (hell, I would've taken a sleeping bag and a tarp outside, it was that bad). Field leadership (some CPT who had been doing PAO her entire career) was so scared of pissing off the full bird coordinating the logistics (who also was her OER Senior Rater), and instead ordered me to stay in the provided lodgings, despite doctor's assessment of my asthma due to the AC units.

It was unprofessional of me (something I'm still fixing as an officer), but when she tried to give me that order, I lit her up in broad daylight - something to the effect of deliberately endangering a Soldier, valuing her OER bullet points over taking care of her subordinates, and her incompetence in failing to take charge as the decision-maker on ground. She tried threatening me to send me "home" (early AT termination) and negative counseling - to which I responded that I'd take both gladly to illustrate her failure to find an alternative solution, to those evaluating her actions afterwards.

Eventually, was put into alternative quarters for the remainder of the exercise, and was counseled for insubordination, with my disagreeing response included. The CPT eventually transferred out within a month of the whole situation - no lessons learned, no AAR, no developmental sessions held for anyone.
