What is a product you want to love but just doesn't work for you?

My Tom Ford everything. I purchased a lot of their products because I had cash gift cards from the holidays, and there were some rare discount opportunities in my local department store. I've heard sooooo many gurus / bloggers raving about these products as if they are the best in the world, including many that i generally trust. Granted, I'm definitely crazy for buying so many of their products, but I just kept on thinking there must be a reason why they are so loved besides their price and the pure status of luxury?

I'm disappointed to say the least. The eyeliner (that every guru claims to be the best they've ever tried) bleeds upon touching my skin, that I have to set them with a black eyeshadow everytime, and it still smudges on me like crazy, giving me raccoon eyes every afternoon. The lipsticks lines don't really have many super special colors, but I heard they are extra good and "luxurious feeling" but no: they smell and feel so cheap, and clings onto my lip lines (and I'm a frequent matte liquid lip wearer). The face powder isn't bad by any means, but there's absolutely nothing special. The blush has sooo much fallout everytime I dip my brush (lightly) into it, and there was way too much glitter (this was before their reformulation). The cream eyeshadow creases like crazy. In their eyeshadow quads, the matter eyeshadows are like MAC quality (which is not bad but not worth TF price either), but the glittery shades that I've heard praises for, barely show up any color and have so much fall out (I apply them with fingers over glitter glue or cream shadows).

I would never ever buy anything from Tom Ford again. And I sincerely don't understand why people rave about their quality, the user experience of their subpar products doesn't really give me any luxe feel. Their packaging design isn't very luxurious either. I wouldn't even buy them if they were at MAC price.
