The mafia. In the late 1990s I watched all these mafia movies and decided I wanted to meet these guys. after talking to a number of people I got the names of some hangouts in the northeast. I go into this family pasta shop and immediately these two 6’4 weightlifters get up in my face, ask me if I’m italian (I’m not) or was born in their city (I wasn’t) and essentially crowd me and bully me like the worst junior high jocks until I buy some pasta and gravy and leave. That evening I went to a mafia restaurant and saw a guy slap his wife and tell her to watch her mouth. Being a civilian I spun around but the waiters / Bus boys shot me deadly serious looks like - don’t say anything, just turn around. I got out of there and never looked back. They’re really crummy people- very trashy
