Not me but happened to a friend.

He knew she was stressed so tried to arrange for a "perfect weekend getaway" complete with his parents taking their kid for the weekend and a mutual friend who own a housekeeping company looking after their place/doing a deep clean.

Unfortunately, he apparently pissed off some cruel pagan god. They got into a fender bender on the way. The resort had bed bugs (they didn't learn this until later). Their kid and his folks ended up having food poisoning (they didn't know that until they got home). On the bright side, their house was spotless. Until previously mentioned bed bugs moved in.

Suffice it to say: her stress levels were not reduced. Even 3 years later, she randomly gets paranoid over itchiness.

Pro-tip: first thing after entering a rented room, always check the creases of beds and other furniture.
