What do you think would surprise a foreigner/pardesi who came to Pakistan for the first time?

If say the 5 member families on motor bikes. As many have mentioned the negative stereo types would more or less be squashed...

It's weird because living in the US, a person starts becoming less and less aware of classism and how different classes dress differently. The surprise actually comes to many Pakistanis when they see Pakistani-Americans. Our clothing style, our gadgets, the way we don't pay attention to middle-upper and upper class norms.

For instance, when my cousin came to visit us in the US. He was baffled that I was building our own basement. Why can't you hire a mistri, he said.... Lol..

Now my cousins in Pakistan dress more liberally, sleeveless and all that... However... My wife, mother and sister... Do not get decked out... Just pants and a shirt. Nothing too bad but regular Mall store clothing... My female cousins were all about name brands... So they got a shock out of us just being average joes. We do our own yard work. Mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges and taking care of the veggie garden... I couldn't get my younger cousin to cut the lawn... He got done 1/4s of the way and started whining.

Another surprise was that we don't do the whole, "I'll pay, no I'll pay thing" when we go to Pakistan... We get our own place, and a dedicated Cabbi, we pay for their(our families) expenses and ours when ever we are shopping or whatever... Because dollars yo..... They kind of took it as a surprise and felt offended that, I wasn't offering to pay for their extravagant name brand shopping... We couldn't get them to go to jummah with us... Why? According to my cousin, he came to visit US to get away from the mullahs... Lol... When we go to Pakistan we insist on making our own Breakfast and washing our own dishes... They on the other hand.. Would come down stairs eat... Plates still on the break fast table after they get done and walk away.....messed up part is that we thought when ever they asked my parents for money... It was because they needed it... Now I'm thinking... These no responsibility having cousins of mine are just lazy as fudge...

I don't know about others in Pakistan but definitely all of my extended family just doesn't seem to care about handling their business and think every problem should be fixed by hiring the laborers. The biggest shock an outsider would probably have is how laid back and responsibility free a lot of Pakistnis seem to be. There just isn't an urgency for getting chores done on the daily.
