What is your dream scenario for Linux gaming over the next 4 years?

My dream scenario involves Linux becoming an attractive desktop/laptop OS for more people; gaming should grow alongside that. Thus --

  • (Even) better hardware support (no need to know about "nomodeset", driver PPAs, hp-plugin -i and whatnot)
  • Everyone miraculously decides on using the same packaging format, and not just for encapsulated sandboxed chrooty thingies but system-wide
  • Desktop environments with more thorough and professional design (no dark grey on black elements, no cramped/cluttered panels, no turning elementary features like a suspend button or application menu* into add-ons that one needs to know where to find)
  • "Software Centres" (whatever names they might be going by) prominently displaying open-source software from well-populated repositories as well as proprietary basics like Netflix, Spotify, Steam and at the very least demo versions of attractive commercial applications like Bitwig Studio, Renoise
  • Dell, Entroware, Lenovo, System 76 etc. etc. preinstalling the resultant superdistro
  • STEAM GOES BACK TO USING THE TUX ICON
