What was your goal for S4? Did you achieve it & what did you learn in the process?

Premise: S3 was my first competitive season. I had the game since launch but never played competitive mode until then. Coming in I thought I was decent, but I got a huge reality check when I placed bronze. I climbed to gold fairly quickly and remained in gold the rest of the season.

Goals for S4: My goal was to get to plat, then if possible get to diamond. I knew I was capable of at least making plat because I had come very close in S3 (2450).

Results: Beginning S4 I placed around 1800 due to very bad placements (2-7-1). But I quickly shot back up into high gold. After a few weeks I made platinum. After a few weeks bouncing around high gold and low platinum I managed to break into plat for good. The latter half of this season I've been in mid to high plat with a season high of 2950.

Lessons Learned: I didn't make diamond this season but I felt like I've learned a ton from my time in plat. I really enjoy the competitive games and I feel like the higher the level of opponents, the more you are forced to learn and step up your own game. I want to keep climbing and get better.

I learned a lot about attitude this season. Don't blame teammates and do not fixate on SR. Focus on being the best at your role that you can be. If you win, awesome! If not, that's ok too. Every game is a learning experience that you can take something away from no matter the outcome. Overwatch is a game with a TON of variance. The only way to overcome variance is to keep playing the game. Eventually you will see results.

S5: I hope to make diamond and push for masters. I want to do this while continuing to expand my hero pool. I currently am a huge flex player and I feel like I can play ~10 heroes at a Plat level or higher. Also I would love to learn Tracer. I am a big fan of setting a realistic goal and also a more lofty goal. If I make masters I would be thrilled but realistically I hope to become a diamond player.
