What is your opinion on the Berenstien Bear's new religious focus?

for anyone wondering, the Mandela effect conspiracy theory states that from time to time people casually and randomly switch between "timelines", going to "parallel universes" where things are slightly different. so people who remember the "berenstAin" bears being called "berenstEin" think they were originally from an universe where it was indeed berenstEin, and now they're, somehow, in this one where it is actually berenstAin.

so, it isn't hard to see that people who believe in this conspiracy theory are obviously just doing professional mental gymnastics to avoid acknowledging the fact that they misremembered something. some people, specially on the subreddits about the "theory", genuinely believe that something, or someone, is messing up with our "timeline". the subreddit seems to agree that the CERN scientist are the ones doing it, using the LHC. honestly, it's kind of sad seeing those subs, because some people are really far "down the rabbit hole" and say the most absurd things.

memory is unreliable and fallible, false memories exist, and hallucinations are far more common than people realize.

also as far as science is concerned, parallel universes is just a science fiction concept. some mental gymnasts will tell you that quantum mechanics proves that parallel universes exist, but that's a misconception. they're referring to the many worlds interpretation, which is, as the name says, just an interpretation to the actual quantum mechanics. there's a lot of different interpretations, and the most popular among physicists is the Copenhagen interpretation.

another argument the mental gymnasts use is that "there's too many of us [I think it was 300k subscribers, last time I saw the sub] experiencing it, for it to be just fallible memories. what are the odds??". well, there's several million book lovers subscribed to r/books. what are the odds??? there's about a million Trump supporters subscribed to T_D. gosh, it can't be a coincidence! man, that's the internet. you can create a community about literally anything and you'll find thousands of people sharing that same interest, just see subs like breadstapledtotrees and trebuchetmemes.

that's it. thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
