Well, after the second world war (1948), my paternal grandfather(Mariano) met my grandmother(Maria) and they were both just teens. Maria came from an almost pureblood Spanish family settled in Mexico with a small diaspora of other Spanish families and lived on her family's ranch. Racism against Mestizos (Mariano) played a huge role. Mariano was a 17 year old boy who worked in the corn industry both picking and watching guard for stray dogs looking for food as the company shipped corn mainly to the US.

One day he noticed a group of people sneaking into the corn fields over the fences they put up. He and his coworker gave chase and caught 30-40 year old men while some got away, including an almost pale girl. The men got booted out with a threat and that was that.

The girl came back time after time with these men (which made her stick out like a sore thumb). He decided he'd let his coworker go after the men and he would chase the girl. To his dismay and surprise, she was much, much faster than him (later she explained that chasing chickens for over a decade makes you run like an Olympian champion).

He eventually got wise and sprung a trap as he noticed she came to steal corn every Wednesday of the 1st and 3rd week of every month. He told her to never come back with a threat of arrest (as he was really frustrated with her) and sent her on her way but let her keep the corn.

She came back the very next day with a packed lunch (of corn no less) and through the front desk asked to see Mariano and had lunch. From there they fell in love but Mariano received a death threat every other day from her family. He moved to Guadalajara and settled there far away from her's.

They had their first child in 1950 and had 11 kids from then to 1978. My grandmother passed shortly thereafter as a result of excessive childbirth. Didn't seem like she cared but that's the story I know. Hope you all enjoyed.
