Yes, Turnstile is more hardcore punk and Code Orange is more metalcore. But my point is, if you look at hardcore history and are involved in the hardcore scene, these have long both been considered simply “hardcore.” Turnstile’s groovy dance and mosh parts would never have existed in the early 80s hardcore punk world though, they could have never existed in the late 80s or early 90s even. Thus, the “hardcore punk” label for them should be a throwback term, they exist in a world where simply hardcore is the better term for them. As far as Code Orange, metalcore can mean several things, but certain metalcore fits better under a hardcore umbrella than a metal one, and I think CO clearly occupies this space.
