What's the dumbest scam you've ever fallen for?

This happened pretty recently. Someone called me spoofing a local police number saying that I didn't pay some tax form and that I would be arrested unless I pay a fine within today. They even spoofed an 911 call just to intimidate me, and even faked a call setting up an appointment with the IRS (with one of their members, I'm assuming). I didn't know that the IRS wouldn't call you directly and I am not the most knowledgeable of taxes so I figured I messed up somehow.

Then they started to say that I needed to go to a convenience store and buy fucking Google Play cards to pay the fine, and I almost bought in to it (fear does wonders to make you stupid) but it clicked how ridiculous it was. Since there's a police station right next to the convenient store I faked walking into the store and handed the phone to the police, then they hanged up. Luckily I didn't give them any important information to the scammers.

The whole encounter made me realize I'm a dumbass, and that I need to be more careful. But it's really creepy how those people knew my name and that I was a student.
