What's not as bad as everyone says?

International flights in economy.

Get your stuff together, get your mind in a good place, and be kind to the cabin crew. (Believe it or not, they want you to have a safe and comfortable flight, and if you are decent to them, you'd be surprised at how kind they are in return.) Take meds if you need to...there's no shame in dialing down your anxiety or calming your mind or helping yourself to get some sleep. Take advantage of your seatback entertainment; there truly are hours and hours of stuff to watch and something for pretty much everyone. Ear plugs are a must; noise-cancelling headphones are even better. Bring yourself a snack and plenty of water (yes, buy the bottled water for ninety bucks a bottle outside of the gates). Wear the comfy shoes and socks. And always keep in mind, the situation is temporary and everyone is in the same boat...er, plane ;-)
