There are no silly sincere questions, don't worry. My goal isn't to make the world halal or anything like that, I'm simply doing it because I believe in the day of Resurrection where I'll be questioned on my wealth, how I acquired it (was it Halal), and what I did with it (did I give it to charity, spend it well on my family and kids, etc). You're right that it would probably be easier if I disregarded whether or not my investments are halal, but I value my hereafter more than this world. Truthfully I don't know much about investing or the stock market as I'm still learning and trying to plan what I'm going to do, but right now I'm thinking along the lines of manually picking my own individual stocks which yields higher potential returns (and I know also a much higher risk) but at least this way I can choose to invest in Halal only.
