Where is Los Angeles can you live without having a car?

I just moved here in April from Chicago (previously NYC) and haven’t owned a car since 2010. I hate driving and trying to see how long I can go without finally caving in and getting a car, but in the meantime I decided to try to find somewhere I could walk to enough grocery stores, restaurants, bars, etc. And I’m here to tell you, it’s completely possible! I found an apartment in Palms, just north of Culver City, and I’m walking distance from 4 grocery stores, plenty of restaurants and bars, and about a 15 minute walk from downtown Culver. It’s pretty chill and still has a little bit of a “city vibe,” which I appreciate because I was worried that living in LA was going to feel like living in the suburbs. Fairfax seems cool but a little bit of a college-type crowd (I’m in my 30s), and Santa Monica seems nice but also seems like a lot of Chads and Beckys. I’m still learning the city, but wanted to share my experience since I love living in this neighborhood. Good luck!
