Vasily either did not notice or did not care about the scowl that Captain Penn delivered to him. The command chain between the Adeptus Arbites and the Astra Militarum were separate, allowing him more freedom to speak as he wished. Though, any insults couldn't be outright made.

"Thank you for welcoming us, Captain. I see that Ruinslough is very welcoming, especially to the nobility. Why else would the Lord run off here? This must be due to your exemplary leadership skills" He stated without a hint of sarcasm to his voice. He continued to listen to the Captain's explanation of events but this time only silent nodded.

Before he could order his squad to begin their own search for clues, he spotted the vassal call him over. "Of course", he thought to himself, "This is the nobility. It's never as simple as the wrong place at the wrong time."

He ordered the men and women underneath him to go about looking for whatever they thought would be of use to the investigation. In all honesty he didn't expect them to find anything. He could accuse the Arbites of perhaps being unattended in their duties, but not incompetent. Or rather he hoped he could not.
