Who and what should we blame?

O'Brien was the Pats' OC before he took the Penn State job. The last time we had someone from the Pats' system running our offense, we didn't exactly light any fires or burn any barns.

This is an unfair indictment of Daboll, given that his starting QB was Hurts, and Saban wouldn’t start Tua, despite Daboll’s arguments to do so. It isn’t as if Hurts’ production fell off a cliff after moving from Kiffin to Daboll. Saban was also fairly clear that Daboll wasn’t building off of much of a foundation with Hurts, as Kiffin’s approach was to change the game plans to hide Hurts deficiencies, and didn’t focus on much development of his QB during the regular season.
