You win a competition and now own the Titans

I wouldn't do anything drastic at all; not right away anyway. I have no experience running a multi-million dollar organization and I don't think too many of you others do either. And while we may not be the talk of the NFL the Titans organization isn't exactly hurting for money.

First, I would surround myself with a strong group of advisers, starting with keeping Steve Underwood on the board. He's a guy who loves this organization and want's it to succeed, and it would be wise to listen to any advice he has to give. After I've gotten my feet wet as an owner after a year or so then I would start to make changes.

As far as personnel, it is entirely dependent on how next season falls. If we show a marked improvement then I'll stay the course. If we play very poorly then my hand will be forced. My front runner for the HC job would be Bob Sutton, DC for the Chiefs. I don't have a lot of knowledge of the non-GMs of other team's front offices, so I would put together a search comity to find the top candidates, and then I would interview them with Underwood to find the best fit and work from there to fill the assistant coaching and FO spots.

Then after all that is settled, new staff or not, I start working on a re-branding mission. I would not change the name. Titans is as much a part of Nashville now as any other team is of their city, it just needs time to establish itself as a brand. The team has only been in town for 16 years and it needs time. But I would change the colors. I want to have the colors be changed to match the Predators color scheme. This is a concept design I saw online. I really think just removing the flames and making the helmet silver as opposed to white pushes the brand 20 years forward.

While working on the re-branding I start on stadium improvements. MAJOR upgrades to concessions, bathrooms, expanded parking, and stadium aesthetics. The new video boards are a good start, but we can do a lot better. The Buccs have a pirate ship, the Raiders have the Black Hole, the Jags have pools. As of right now our stadium just seems generic. We don't have anything that really distinguishes our stadium to us. It could just be a computer generated one for a create-a-team on a video game. If you took down the banners and took the logo off the field it is totally unidentifiable.

And the last thing I would do is a MASSIVE media outreach to all of TN, KY, and AL. We're not going to get a major national presence overnight. Like I said earlier, we've been here less than 20 years. We all want to be at the top of the SportsCenter banner right away like the other teams that have been around for 50 years but it'll probably take some time. I think we could make big strides if we did some of these things.
