I like the thought experiment you're proposing but it's so much more complicated than guilty/not guilty. How about a system that is 90/10 but when it's found an innocent person was incarcerated for a crime they didn't commit, the judge and/or jury who put them in jail then face their own charges for improper imprisonment? There's also the problem that most first world countries already perceive incarceration as a rehab facility focused on reform, why should that be a conditional thing for our country? Then there's my personal opinion that anyone who works for the govt or law enforcement who commits a crime related to that job (cops beating up a criminal who's already been handcuffed), their sentence should be automatically doubled (assault x2). I cant answer that question because I could add a million other variables to it. This is exactly why I've never had any interest in being a politician lol.
