The A word

This is exactly why trying to legislate restrictions on abortion is risky. It could criminalize and obstruct a termination that most reasonable people would agree is the humane thing to do. These types of situations are not rare, but the choice continues to be so stigmatized in our culture that those who’ve experienced it are fearful to share. I know a woman who found out at 22 weeks gestation that her baby had a congenital anomaly that was 99% fatal. In our state she could not terminate the pregnancy and she faced having to travel to Colorado to have the procedure done. Had this not been an option for her, our laws would have forced her to continue carrying her dying child potentially for another 18 weeks - imagine drawing out this traumatic experience for that long. No one should be forced to endure that.
