Yesterday a former Saudi general and an Israeli diplomat gave a groundbreaking speech at the Council on Foreign Relations. Here's an extract of the Saudi speech

I wonder how the governments of djibouti, eritrea, somaliland (and the crazy somalia) reacted to a saudi and an israeli planning their integration into greater ethiopia

Greater Ethiopia should definitely be promote, those are small nations at that. Ethiopia is incredibly growing similarly how China was doing at 10% per year.

I have to agree with the Chinese, the Ethiopians are not going to recapture the glory of Aksum (which the Persian prophet Mani described as one of the five global powers of his day; 200AD) by going slow. To hell with federalism, use whatever repression is need, but pick up the pace. The Chinese have revived their fortunes and civilization in twenty years, what are the Ethiopian doing? From 1984-1988, 22 million Ethiopian suffered from famine; for only six million Stalin industrialized the whole Soviet Union. Appoint an emperor; force religious conformity; execute your political enemies; require Eritrea and Somalia, but whatever you do get on with it. There has been little progress in a mass education program, urbanization, land reconyance, infrastructure (beyond dams), and trade agreement. Centralization of authority is a necessary prerequisite to development; so get on with it. The elite in Ethiopia can, if sufficiently ruthless and focused enough, complete the industrialization and development of their nation in 15-20 years, but they need to hurray. Ethiopia should not allow opportunity to slip by like the reign of Menelik II; develop the nation; and then take the rest of Africa.

"And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with a host of a thousand thousand and three hundred chariots, and came unto Mareshah." 2 Cor 14:9

(its been awhile; Ethiopia, sake the dust off your feet and set to work)
