Your view of the Singapore Armed Forces / Police force?

I am guessing the reason might be that Singapore has not experienced war. Look at the USA for example, how much they adore their soldiers. The sad part is that some people do not realize that there is no war because of how good a job the SAF have done.

Look at the SAF's mission - Singapore Armed Forces is to enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor. If the SAF was really doing so badly, what is stopping any bigger nation (every other nation) from tromping all over us? What is stopping them from just sending troops over their border? The reason is because what the SAF are doing is working...

I don't think we can escape from that fact that there are a lot "Lazy" regulars, there are however also a lot of "Hardworking" regulars, it's the same everywhere. Be it private or public domain. Is it not? I can't say that the SAF is the most efficient Organization but large part of their ineffectiveness is due to the fact that they have to answer for every decision they make because they are funded by the tax payer's money. To people who complaint that No.4s are smelly. The No.4s are the people who have to sweat and bleed to go through training so that when the time comes, they can fight and protect you. I cannot fathom why people are not getting that.

I have seen soldiers standing in the MRT when there are more than enough seats around despite their long day of physical training due to the fact that they will get into deep shit if they get Stomp-ed. Is it the SAF that needs to improve here? Or the rest of us that need to change our mentality towards the SAF? With this negative attitude towards the SAF, what signals will we be sending to the younger generations embarking towards their NS?

Just some thoughts. Cheers!
