Been following them for a long time now. Yes hes clickbait but lets be honest, his one source of content was cut off suddenly. With that goes a ton of views.

Orginally their content had a focus on daily living. However it was pretty obvious that living there for years was getting to them, they were constantly raging about really bad aspects of chinese culture. If you followed their journey you could see the tide going backwards, every legitimate complaint would get astroturfed by the government and loyalists. He then claimed that it got outright hostile which isnt a huge stretch from how the modern CCP is cracking down on media big time.

Personally never liked him too much as he is very vain but provides a great insight into China. Laowhy seems much better but also showed the same frustration over regulation.

They should have pivoted their content slowly but it looks like they were really venting about the situation. Now their content is the view of outsiders and the algorithm probably keeps them barely relevant which is what they are so scared of losing. Its a terrible situation honestly but I stopped watching their stuff a long time ago when they couldnt adapt.
