I don't think either one can get away with 1+1 anymore. LeBron is too old. If he tears an Achilles tomorrow, I'm not sure teams will line up with 4-year max contracts for him. LeBron knows that, which is why he stopped doing 1+1 after Cleveland. Durant also knows he won't get maxed if he suffers yet another major injury. Which is why he signed a 4-year max with Brooklyn, instead of 1+1.

How many players in the league will still get a 4-year max if they tear an Achilles tomorrow? Giannis, Luka, Anthony Davis, and Jokic. Other superstars like Curry, Kawhi, Lillard and Harden are too old to be risking 1+1.
