This could all be nonsense because the far East is just crammed with in-jokes and references but the colours of the Emperor's before the the long-night/blood-betrayal line up with the colours of Valyrian Dragon Lord's eyes.

I always thought that the Valyrians were related to the Yiti, possibly nobles (related to the god emperor, full of really potent blood for magic) escaping during the blood betrayal and finding the Firewyrms to breed with Wyverns and make Dragons on the peninsula.

This makes sense of why Valyria doesn't have a history before the long night and why the Dragon lords don't seem to be related to natives from Valyria's surrounding regions.
