Adobe Animate release thread

First thoughts, I've been forced to switch to this program for work so I had no choice with this. There are a few new features that I absolutely adore, plus a couple hangups that are downright frustrating and sometimes hindering.

The ability to rotate your canvas, textured brushes, and anchoring onion skin markers? This is going to save a ton of time in what I do every day at work, making it easier to navigate my timeline as well as easier to draw objects. The textured brushes are also pretty cool, and having the brush library connected to the cloud is a pretty rad idea!

As for the bad things, well there are a couple big ones. Everyone knows the stereotypical flash brush and how it acts, and at my studio we have a way of getting around it by using a square brush and 35 smoothing (plus pressure sensitivity sometimes). Adobe Animate seems to have brought the bad back, meaning you have to go even lower with your smoothing to get the line you want. Compare the lines here, (drawn in Adobe Flash CS3 at 35 smoothing, size 2 brush, square brush, and pressure sensitivity) with the lines here (drawn in Adobe Animate with the same settings).

Another thing that's been bothering me is the new onion skin. It's combined a feature that I've been wanting for a very long time with the fact that you can't do anything about it. Nothing. Nada. Onion skinning is now colored, with the previous drawings showing up in blue/purple and the later drawings showing up in yellow/green. The green is a terrible choice as it barely shows up against white, and many backgrounds I've seen would also have problems finding contrast... usually in previous versions if this was a problem (normally using outline skinning instead of normal onion skinning) I'd just change the outline color of each layer, but now you can't change that at all. Absolutely infuriating and slows down my workflow a small but noticeable amount.

All in all, I'd say it's not a great upgrade, but a good one nonetheless. The hangups are frustrating but not entirely gamebreaking, and while I wish I didn't have to work in it right away, I'm happy with most of the new features!
