AITB for punching my sister in the jaw?

I am just trying to advocate for communication first. This situation may not call for a record with CPS. OP never mentioned that she has ever tried to explained her fear or pain to her parents.

Maybe the parents don’t know OP’s true experience and all they see is kids messing around. Maybe they haven’t noticed the “faint marks” that OP has been getting from her sister. I am truly NOT trying to excuse them or downplay what OP has been going through.

But, there’s a chance this is a lack of understanding and that the parents didn’t realize that OP needs help. It is their responsibility to take more action. They need to step up, and OP should communicate this.

OP, if they refuse to change or listen to you, if you continue to fear for your safety in your own home, if you keep getting hurt, or there is more to your history, please call for help. CPS can be a great resource. If your situation calls for it, they can help your family get resources, counseling, and create a safer environment for your family.
