I agree with you somewhat. Obviously there is a place for people who have a deep understanding of how politics and law works. Otherwise even less would get done!

But I do think it's very important to have a few loud, outspoken individuals on various extremes. I personally have disagreed with nearly everything AOC has said, but I do think it is important to have someone to speak those sorts of ideas. Even if they never work, it's important to have them considered. At least in my humble opinion.

I think a balanced person will sadly never win an election, though. Balanced would be seen as a smart choice, but would never make it through the primaries. The people who win are the people who can get their followers the most amped up. No one gets fired up about cooperation with the other side and making reasonable promises. People want to win! It's a curse of the way elections work, I think.
