Climbing the corporate ladder is useless (at least for me)

It's not that I don't want to work. But if I have a job that pays well and allows me to still have a life and free time, I don't need to change it or get promoted. That just means more work, more stress, less free time, and possibly for very little extra money. I want to have my own family someday and give time to my hobbies, I'm not going to sacrifice that for the sake of someone else's business or company.

Actually, I completely agree with this entire paragraph.

I currently have a manager who has 2 sons and a wife. He works from 8 am to 8 pm and sometimes even on weekends. I have been working for him for 3 years and have never seen him take a vacation. Of course every person has a different mentality, but I can't imagine that you can neglect your family like that, just for your job or to get higher within a company that probably only sees you as a number and not a person anyway.

I have always said, and continue to say; "I would rather be a father of 2 children a loving husband with a reasonable income than to be in the office more than at home and my children not even recognize my face anymore."
