I’ve got a list of OBs that I know I will never go to when I decide to have children. There’s a few on there for having zero regard for the safety of their patients and only caring about getting their fee. Namely, a few OBs have refused to reroute extremely preterm patients to any of the many nearby hospitals in downtown Boston, despite being told we don’t have enough nurses to safely admit a micropreemie. They flat out don’t care. Also, have seen extreme overuse of the vacuum, butchery in the section room and a growing trend of OBs who like to lift the baby up and over the sterile drape without clamping the cord. Not only does this break sterile field but has resulted in babies needing blood transfusions because the blood drains out via the cord when they are lifted up a la Rafiki presenting Simba.
