The Allegations Against Bill DeMott - Megathread

Sorry it took so long for the reply. It's been a busy morning.

No one accused him of sexual assault, only of serial harassment and creating a hostile work environment where such bullying was protected from the higher ups. Considering the lack of a prior record or restraining order, it would only be the long history of this happening that could possibly make it a felony rather than a misdemeanor.

Coercion qualifies as sexual assault. If female trainees were sexually assaulted/abused by someone else, because they were threatened, or were in fear of DeMott, then that's more than enough to get him charged.

Once he's charged, then the State handles the investigation, not the WWE. With their resources and the ability to demand the production of any existing records or evidence, and their ability to prosecute anyone who attempts to obstruct their investigation, they would've had no trouble finding out if there was a "there" there.

Typically, sexual harassment is seen as a civil wrong in the USA and as such the civil courts would be where a victim would seek justice. Aside from someone charging DeMott with assault for kicking them in their injured leg, I fail to see anything that could be deemed criminal wrongdoing.

What is it that you think he's been accused of that merits him being thrown in jail?

There are multiple accusations of him physically abusing trainees: punching Ricardo Rodriguez in the jaw, stomping/kicking someone's leg while it was in a cast, "snapping" multiple people in the face with the ropes as they watched training, and the list goes on and on. Any one of those are enough to get you charged with assault, and here in Florida (where this is all alleged to have happened), intent of the perpetrator is an aggravating factor:

The mental state of the perpetrator can also push an assault from simple assault to aggravated assault. If he or she acted with the intent to cause severe harm or fear of severe harm, an assault can become aggravated.

From the reports coming out, the trainees were supposedly terrified of DeMott and his allegedly sadistic training methods, so there would've been more than enough to charge him with Aggravated Assault, which is a felony.

Again, I'm not saying he's innocent, I'm simply saying that there is a process and a mechanism in place for handling things like this and the internet grabbing the torches isn't it. Most of the people reporting on this, and certainly those commenting on it, simply don't like Bill DeMott (although I doubt most of them have ever met the guy), and for them, allegations are enough. I'm saying that if he's guilty, he deserves every ounce of shit he's catching, and more, but you have to actually prove he's guilty first.
