Am I a jerk for wanting to switch from daycare to a nanny?

It’s not a terrible life ruining place! I’m more speaking systemically. Your individual child will be completely fine! Systemically we need a better solution to the childcare issue.

The worst thing I ever had happen was a coworker sat on a child to put them to sleep and I had to yell at her to get off the 1 year old child who was crying. But in retrospect, I was there to stop the person from doing it at least.

My only advice would be to make sure to really get to know their teachers and leave if you feel something isn’t right. If there is high turnover, nope the fuck out of that center it’s a major red flag.

I cannot judge whether your individual situation will benefit your kid. They may have a wonderful individual experience. But I can say as a system overall, we could do a lot better than this as a country. But this is just the system we do have now so it’s what many of us have to make work!
