Yes! I’m a application programmer analyst for a large healthcare system. Most of our APAs have healthcare backgrounds, many are RNs, PTs, pharmacists, techs, etc. but not all. I’m a Registered Dietitian by training and worked 25 years in hospitals and healthcare prior to being asked to consider coming over to the IT dept.

On the one hand I love not having to do patient care or be a manager anymore (and make the same money) but I also miss patient care and interacting with the care team. I pretty much work alone all day everyday except for calls here and there.

I’ve learned a ton and can’t imagine doing anything else at this stage in the game.
