The AMAB or AFAB stuff

I’m amab. It seems like 90% of NBs are afab. Most of the posts here are by afabs, as well as almost all the pictures being posted. I often scroll here trying to see what kind of things amabs are doing to look/feel more androgynous or feminine... makes it really hard when they don’t include their agab and I have to dig through their history only to find out if they are ftm trans. Personally I think putting your agab is helpful because it gives context.

I’m amab... if I suddenly started wearing skirts and short shorts in my household, I would be seen as gay AT BEST, a fetishist more likely. An afab suddenly wearing jeans and collared shirts in their household would barely raise an eyebrow. So context matters, and agab is context. To me, any time it’s mentioned, it’s helpful to give me perspective. Afabs and amabs are viewed differently by society. An afab can look androgynous and basically still not raise eyebrows... an amab going for an androgynous or feminine look is very weird by social norms.
