Amazon hired an army of employees to say nice things about it on Twitter, and it shows how big its reputation problem has gotten

Shilling is disgusting - it literally undermines our ability to talk to each other as a community. There needs to be more of a consequence for it. Tech companies should block them from advertising for [x] months, it should be on all the evening news networks - it should be a PR disaster. Amazon should feel disgraced - the CEO should be issuing tearful apologies and talking about how he'll never let this happen again, and internally various marketing/PR heads should be rolling.

The fact that we just accept this as normal is concerning - because it's only going to get more prevalent and more sophisticated. I hope there's a solution to this problem - I'm not sure we'll have democracies for much longer if we can't get past it.
