An insightful article regarding the game's overwhelming whiteness: "How A Lack of Racial Diversity Inhibits Life is Strange."

Hi there, welcome to the sub.

This is a complicated issue unfortunately. It's understandable that not having any racial diversity in the main cast of LIS is a bit of a let down. The lack of conversation pertaining to the diversity of the cast is also a bit of a let down.

You have to look at it from the point of view of people that are really passionate about this game. Most of us have attached to these characters fairly deeply, and it probably isn't good to immediately come to the table with an article criticizing the thing that we love.

I have felt left out, removed, a loner most of my life. I attach to Max, I understand her struggles, even if she isn't necessarily my race.

It's bloody brilliant that you're giving us some food for thought though, and I appreciate it greatly. This is just a difficult discussion to have with people that are already so emotionally attached to the game. The conversation that this article poses is necessary, and it should be conversed about greatly.

It's just that we all love the game so much, and we stay in our little LIS sub to celebrate that, so it makes it a little difficult to hear criticism about a game that has brought me into one of the most inviting fan communities that I've taken part in.

I will say that there is definitely work to be done, but this is the story that was made. Progressively, it could go further, but I like to think DONTNOD did a pretty good job. There are far worse perpetrators of sexism, lack of racial diversity, and hate in video gaming culture. I feel as though the conversation should be directed at other titles for this very issue, but I can agree that I see where LIS does have issues.

Cheers.
