You explain to this baby that they are unclean and unworthy. That they do not deserve God's love, because they were born broken and detestable. That they have no hope to save themselves. That in fact anything they could try to do would at best be an insult to their creator. He made them this fucked up and evil intentionally. To try to be anything else os rejecting God's perfect plan.

You explain to this baby that because they are an unworthy sinner, God setup a special place of eternal, ceaseless, ever-escalating torment they have no hope of escape from. You tell that baby, they are going to go there someday if they don't love this god.

You tell them, the only possible way to avoid this unimaginably horrific fate is to obey god, do what he says, and beg forgiveness of your sins all the time. The best you can hope for is to be abaolved sufficiently right before you die. Of course you could die suddenly, so make sure you are always right with god.

You remind them of this every day, multiple times a day during all their key developmental years.

And out comes an evangelical Christian fundamentalist with several mental illnesses and a hatred for women and gays who keep making him think impure thoughts that'll send him straight to hell.

He may even think the right way to get rid of those distracting thoughts is to get rid of all the gays and to subjugate and control the women to be "modest good traditional wives".
