It would never come to that. You don't think the Russians have a self-preservationist mentality? Do you honestly believe the reason the U.S. hasn't engaged with Russia militarily is because we're afraid of their tanks? Get real. If you believe that, you shouldn't even be engaging in these discussions because you don't have a clue. We don't engage them military because we'd destroy their military as easily as we did Iraq's but they'd respond with Nuclear weapons.

You're not preventing anything. In fact, if anything, people like you are pushing us toward an armed conflict with Russia that would ultimately end with Nuclear weapons being used. Russia would not stand by while the US military sent their military back to the stone age (which we would) without using Nuclear warheads. Whatever his faults (and they are many), Putin is not an idiot.
