Anybody live or lived in a perceived ‘shit hole’ and find it was alright?

100%

Have also lived in Camden for a while, and have lived in both traditionally ‘rough’ areas (Somerstown) and very ‘posh’ areas (Primrose Hill). My neighbours in Somerstown were some of the loveliest people. I knew their names. There was a general camaraderie and approach of ‘do want you want just don’t be a dick’. Would happily have stayed there if landlord didn’t sell up.

In Primrose Hill, much nicer area, and I prefer it here for a number of reasons (much nicer flat for one) but I don’t know my neighbours. Probably wouldn’t recognise them in the street tbh. There’s a shared garden with strict rules from the management company (no BBQ / no furniture etc), and people will dob you in if you don’t follow them, even if you’re not causing an issue. Just a general difference of, I felt people had each others’ backs in the old place, but here they’d step over you to avoid you lol
