Deleted but I copied and pasted it, it's so good.
I am absolutely sick of the prejudice against Americans on /r/soccer, just frigging sick of it. It really is bordering on discrimination now.
Yes I'm an American who's an Arsenal and Barca fan. So what? Does that make me less of a fan?! Maybe I can't speak Catalan but I can speak the language of football.
Yes I've only started following the sport over the last couple of years but that doesn't make me any less knowledgable than a fan residing in Europe! I digest anything soccer related; Inverting the Pyramid, zonal marking, soccer economics, youtube, docu-series you name it, I've read/ watched it. I can spot if a manager is deploying a pivot or double pivot within the first 20 seconds of the game.
The fact that I force myself to get up at 5am to watch my beloved Arsenal, fills me with pride. How many fans are willing to lose sleep for their team? When I am watching on my HD stream in bed at 6am I feel like I am with the lads singing and dancing together... I feel every goal, I rejoice at every absolutely disgusting upper 90 finish from Messi or when Ozil makes yet another world class pass in the hotbox. I re-watch the goal GIFs multiple times so I can provide deep detailed analysis on where we can improve, especially if the game is a shut out.
I buy all the merchandise, I contribute my cold hard dollar and time to the franchise and I educate people on the sport in general. Due to new technology the world is getting smaller, without fans like us, would the franchises be where they are today? I doubt it. I rest easy knowing we are building a more acceptable environment for our children to grow up in as soccer fans.
Let's go Gunners!
