Celebrations are in order!! r/antiwork just surpassed r/careerguidance for subs, and I couldn't be more proud of you guys.

I think first and foremost, we need to live in a society where every single human is guaranteed the basics needed to survive and live a dignified life regardless of their ability to work.

Agree. Whether this is through UBI or another path doesn't matter. I'd love to live in a world where all my basic survival needs are met without me needing to work.

We need the abolition of capitalism and all the practices and ways life it imposes on people.

This is where I need more detail - how do we pay for the society above, without capitalism?

What I mean is, we've tested various economic systems, and capitalism has proven the most efficient. So wouldn't it make more sense to create laws and regulations to harness the benefits of capitalism (e.g.: globally enforced corporate taxation, global agreement to phase out tax havens, etc.).

That way, the people who want to work and earn money for luxuries can do so - and they can do it under an efficiently running economic system (capitalism), whilst governments go about taxing these capitalist companies to pay for the welfare of the people.

Because people don't "need" wages to live, there is effectively an end to wage slavery.

The barrier to this is that governments are run by people, who are corruptible.

Collective power can carry out actions like strikes, protests, occupations, etc. These actions can transform the conditions and relations of power in society.

So we should be protesting against the corruptibility of government. We should be striking and occupying with the simple demand that government be reformed and made transparent - so that corruption can be rooted out quickly and easily.

Demand that all public servants live on UBI, demand that all public servants live in public housing. Demand that all public servants are not allowed to accumulate wealth. Forbid any public servants to pass down any wealth to their families - they should be serving the people after all. The country should be their family.

Then we'll finally attract the right people to govern, not the snake-oil salesman, not the power hungry narcissist, but the compassionate, gentle leader who wants to minimize suffering for all.
