Anyone else disappointed that Clark Gregg wasn't cast in A:AOU?

Nah. I can see why, but let's look at it from a different perspective. We as Marvelites follow the whole story starting to finish. Most of us watch both the TV show and the films to get a whole scope of the world that is being built. Unless it's hinted HARD that Coulson is going to appear in any future team-up films, then it really isn't necessary to watch AoS along with the films. For casual movie goers who are aware of the MCU storyline, all they know is that Coulson died in Avengers, which propelled the team to continue their fight. To "Avenge" him. Or, "they needed the push" as Fury would say. It's important to the Avenger film plot line that he died, and it will continue to be important in these characters lives in Age of Ultron.. It's a prominent memory in any warriors life when a comrade falls, it follows them their whole life. So Coulson's death has shaped each Avenger into how they are now. I wanted Clark Gregg in Age of Ultron because he is Clark Gregg, and the Coulson character is a fan favorite for many reasons (hence the tv show.) But at this point, if he were to appear in AOU they would need to explain how he's alive. Which took the show almost a whole season to explain. You'd have to introduce The Kree, the program Coulson worked on testing these human subjects, perhaps maybe a crash course on Inhumans? So many things have to be explained in order for it to make sense how Coulson survived Loki's killing blow. So for now, no matter how much I was Clark Gregg to come back to the MCU, it just makes sense. He's a part of the TV universe for now, and maybe it'll be revealed slowly to the MCU characters that he's been trying to rebuild SHIELD. And who knows, maybe Fury will elaborate in Civil War? I even speculate that he'll hint something along the lines of:

Stark: I thought Shield was gone..?

Fury: I got someone working on that.

So hey, we won't get him in AoU, but we might get him and his team somewhere down the line.
