anyone else just feeling incredibly lonely these days?

Chin up lad, I know how you feel. I was in a real bad headspace around 10 years ago, living on my own, working flat out, had mostly drifted away from my friend group after a few fall outs, was never overly close to my family. All I did in my evenings was come home, wash , dinner, bit of tv or playstation then bed. Practically living the life of an old man at age 27. I've always enjoyed my own company but after a while the loneliness was absolutely crippling to the point I went into counselling for help.

Decided about 7 years ago to put myself out there and see what happened so I set myself up on a dating app, got talking to a woman and she seemed cool so we arranged a date, added each other on fb whatsapp etc. I deleted the dating app figuring it'd be disrespectful to her to still be on it after we'd arranged a date. Date went pretty well and we arranged to meet again, spent the next week texting and chatting on the phone and then nothing.

About a week after that she sent me a picture on fb of her with her tongue down another lads throat. Couldn't understand why she did that tbh. Was annoyed as hell but soon got over it. Lucky escape. Was literally ready to put all my eggs into the first basket that came along, pardon the analogy lol.

Anyway long story short, few weeks later I loaded up the app again and got talking to another lass. We're together now for just over 6 years and been married for 3. I still sometimes can't believe that I'm somebody's actual husband. Sorry for long read but hope it helps. If it can happen for me it can happen for anyone. Don't let it get you down mate
