Has anyone here collected one of the cash rewards for information posted by police? What did you know? What's your story?

My wife. When she was 13, her best friend disappeared. The parents reported her missing and said she probably ran away with her friends.

The police were very accusing towards my wife and the friends of hiding her. They wouldn't listen to them or anything they said.

Because the police wouldn't listen, my wife had to call the police hotline (different officers) and tell them that her friend did not run away and they need to follow up with the family. Her friend had issues with the father-in-law. That information then went to the Sheriff, and the sheriff changed the investigation.

The girl was raped, tortured, and murdered by her father-in-law.

My wife was pretty involved with the case and had to identify a number of items in evidence...such as the letter opener stabbed into the ear of her crushed skull.

My wife had a shitty upbringing, and was living on the streets shortly thereafter. She dealt with a lot of shit, her parents were absent, and she was removed from school from attendance.

she was homeless for 3 years.

She has since graduated from college with high honors, and is a very loving mother and wife. She still wakes up occassionally dealing with it, and every time we get a letter from the Washington state department of corrections we have to pick up the pieces all over again. ...We still deal with it today
