Anyone who got lucky?

I have a trust fund. It's not large enough to set me up for life, but it's approaching 7 figures.

I grew up in a solidly middle class family on the west coast. I did well in high school and am now attending one of the top public universities in the country in one of the more lucrative STEM fields.

I only learned about the trust fund recently. Prior to learning about the fund, I was always finance oriented. I'd keep up with /r/personalfinance and /r/financialindependence from the age of 15-16. I worked jobs in the summer and set up a ROTH IRA the day I turned 18.

I'm still frugal, and my habits haven't changed. I track every dollar I spend, and I still cringe when my friends invite me out to some brunch place where the cheapest thing is a $12 omelette. I don't spend money on anything other than textbooks, tuition and school supplies.

I hope to save aggressively until 35, then look for work that is more than just 'tolerable'. I chose my field of study because it paid well and because of familial pressure to do something 'smart'. My parents are happy because they can brag about my school and major, but I'm just looking forward to the day that I can quit and do something else.
