Are drugs like meth and crack more dangerous and addictive than alcohol?

Alcohol is not as dangerous as meth or crack. However, alcohol is something that you're free to consume, more or less, as much as you want - no legal framework stops you from drinking yourself into oblivion every night. Legalizing and regulating meth and crack doesn't mean legalizing them and then letting you get as fucked as you want. It means that you may buy it, or sample it, or obtain it for your addiction through governmental channels who will also, incidentally, be part of a system that stops you from turning into a hopeless self-destructive addict. When you come in for your 5th hit in 24 hours, they won't sell you more, they'll refer you to a substance abuse counselor.
