Why are so many of you optimistic about this team?

First, I appreciate your responding without being insulting or insinuating that your opinion is correct and others just need to educate themselves.

I would much rather have Manziel (with the hope he improves and sorts his life out) and possibly Hoyer, than Weeden and Campbell

We don't have Hoyer, and it looks like there isn't much interest in bringing him back, otherwise the team would take advantage of the fact that they are the only team that can talk to him and try to sign him up. Whether you would prefer Manziel or Weeden doesn't matter much when they are both terrible (hopefully Manziel will improve).

We don't know the content of the texts. Farmer should have known what he did was illegal, but we have no evidence he was undermining the coaching staff.

We know he didn't know the rules, which is bad enough.

Someone else already posted this, he went to Atlanta where Banner is, and Banner is the one who hired him to Cleveland. Plus, I never was a huge fan of the guy.

He either rather have no job or be with the Falcons than be here, neither of these inspires much confidence in this organization.

Also the player on the team with the least give-a-shit in him. Doesn't matter how talented you are if you don't put forth the effort.

Agreed, but a coach was with our most talented player while he engaged in conduct that got him suspended. That is unbelievably inept.

Gilbert has not performed up to expectations, but he's not a total loss. He can certainly improve. Plus, the rest of the draft went pretty well for us, minus Manziel.

I agree that after the first round the rest of the draft went well, but the first round was a disaster, and you need to get playmakers in the first round, not total, or near total busts.

He lied to the media. Everyone lies to the media. Of course he is willing to lie to make the team look less dysfunctional because the entire media is doing everything in their power to make the Browns look as dysfunctional as possible.

The problem with that is we can never believe what he says about the team, his decisions, or what goes on in the front office. I would rather he didn't talk to the media at all than lie, especially a week after he raises ticket prices.

Cameron was injured a lot this year and had limited contribution. He has concussion issues and it seems this will likely continue. He's not as big of a loss as everyone is making it out to be. We have Dray and Barnidge, who while not as good as Cameron are not terrible replacements. Plus, Hawkins and Gabriel are quality people who can catch the football. We do need a true #1 though.

I'm not saying Cameron is great, but our receivers are largely cast offs, and the GM has a 'philosophy' that this doesn't matter.
